Seeing this many people would think it’s being feminist but reverse is the case as it’s not only female that suffer from this societal disease.


Gender-Based violence is any act which is harmful and it’s being done to an individual because of their gender. These are what we call gender inequality or abuse of power.

Gender-based violence (GBV) is a serious violation of human rights and a life-threatening health and protection issue.

The constitution gives every living soul right irrespective of gender or status. This implies that everyone is blessed with equal right and on no account should one withdraw the right.

Researches have shown that ladies suffer mostly this deadly disease as it is a life threatening act which should not be encouraged in any part of the society.

We can also reference this to the era when our forefathers send only the male child to school and insist our female child to stay in the kitchen, saying they are meant to be in the kitchen.

Gender based violence can come in form of any of the following

1. Physical abuse

2. Sexual abuse

3. Emotional mistreatment 




Many people will be wondering how we got here. The truth of it is that the above are ways GBV rooted our society. 

Physical abuse is when someone is being coerced to do what they didn’t wish to and also has injury during the process.

Sexual abuse: what do we call a situation whereby someone is engage with a nonconsensual sexual contact. A lot of ladies are out there suffering from trauma of rape, trafficking and lots more.

Emotional mistreatment: words go a long way in addressing and readdressing . Words alone is enough to end someone’s life. Some words can be utter in forms of abusing a gender and this immature words may offend the concern party and lead to the cease of life or cause some other damages to the concern party. 

We have a lot of victims out there suffering from GBV.

How do we prevent GBV.

At all times, we should be mindful of our act towards the opposite gender and should not engage physical violence with them.

Parents/guardian should not expose their wards to be flee from home.

The world need to be:

-Educated on the root causes of violence.

-Interrupt sexist and discriminatory language.

-Stop sexual harassment.

-Stop victim blaming.

-Stop rape culture.


Please dear masses stop be racist or sexist. It will go a long way in restoring the society of our dream.
