The Vice Chairman of Ilorin East Local Government, Hon. AbdulRaheem Nafisat Akanke, today represented the First Lady of Kwara State, Prof. Mrs. Olufolake AbdulRazaq, who also serves as the Chairperson of the Governors’ Wives Forum, at a special Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) outreach held at Cherubim and Seraphim Secondary School, Ilorin East.



The program, themed *“Flow with Confidence: Empowering Schoolgirls Through Menstrual Hygiene,”* was designed to raise awareness on menstrual health, reduce the stigma around menstruation, and ensure no girl misses school due to lack of sanitary materials.


Hon. Nafisat Akanke was accompanied by Hon. Motunrayo Ayinke, the Councillor representing Magaji Aare Ward 2, along with her dedicated team.


In her address, Hon. Nafisat conveyed the goodwill message of the First Lady, praising the resilience and enthusiasm of the schoolgirls. She encouraged them to maintain proper personal hygiene, embrace self-confidence, and never allow menstruation to limit their education or aspirations.


She emphasized the commitment of the First Lady and the Renewed Hope Initiative to promoting girls’ education and overall well-being, noting that menstrual hygiene is vital to the health, dignity, and academic success of every young girl.


Receiving the team, Mrs. Awotunde Oluwaranti, Principal of Cherubim and Seraphim Secondary School, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the First Lady for her inspiring message and to the local government for their continued support. She described the outreach as timely and impactful, applauding the RHI’s focus on girl-child development.


The school management and community stakeholders commended the efforts of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Oluremi Tinubu for initiating the Renewed Hope Agenda. They also extended gratitude to Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, The Executive Governor of Kwara State, Prof. Olufolake AbdulRazaq, First Lady of Kwara State, and the leadership of Ilorin East Local Government for aligning with initiatives that prioritize the future of the younger generation.

The event concluded with the distribution of menstrual hygiene kits to the female students, reinforcing the message of empowerment, dignity, and educational continuity for every girl.
