Kwara 2027: Governor AbdulRazaq Endorses Amb. Yahaya Seriki as Preferred Successor

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has endorsed Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki (MFR) as his preferred successor under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to the Governor, the decision followed extensive consultations with party leaders and stakeholders across the state.

Describing Yahaya Seriki as “young, pro-people, astute, and broad-minded,” Governor AbdulRazaq praised his political mobilization strength, investments in people, and widespread goodwill across Kwara State.

The Governor emphasized that the endorsement does not stop other aspirants from participating in the APC gubernatorial primaries scheduled for Thursday, May 21, 2026, but urged party members to support Seriki in the interest of unity, cohesion, and continuity.

He further noted that the endorsement should not be seen as a rejection of other qualified aspirants, stressing that the contest involves many capable individuals but only one candidate can emerge at a time.

Governor AbdulRazaq also commended all aspirants for their maturity, discipline, and commitment to building on the achievements of his administration over the last seven years.

APC Announces Screening Schedule for National Assembly Aspirants Ahead of Primaries

In a press statement issued on Friday, May 8, 2026, in Abuja, the ruling party disclosed that the screening exercise for National Assembly aspirants will hold between Saturday, May 9 and Sunday, May 10, 2026. According to the statement signed by Felix Morka, Senate aspirants are expected to undergo screening at the Abuja Continental Hotel, formerly known as Sheraton Hotel, while aspirants contesting for the House of Representatives will be screened at Treasures Suites & Conferences.
