The National Association of Nigerian Comrades (NANC) on Friday, 22nd May, 2026, successfully held its National Congress ahead of the forthcoming National Convention scheduled to take place on Saturday 23rd May, 2026.


The congress brought together members, stakeholders, state coordinators, student activists, comrades, and representatives from across the 36 states of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The gathering served as a platform for deliberations on the progress, unity, and future direction of the association, while also strengthening the bond among comrades nationwide.


The congress was marked by active participation, productive discussions, and a renewed commitment towards advancing the ideals of leadership, activism, accountability, and selfless service which the association stands for.



Delivering the opening remarks, Comr. Sanni Yusuf Olatunji expressed profound appreciation to all members and stakeholders for their unwavering dedication, sacrifices, and commitment towards the continuous growth and development of the association.


According to him, the strength of every movement lies in the unity and determination of its members, stressing that NANC remains committed to promoting the collective interests of Nigerian comrades across the country.


He further commended members for their resilience and consistency despite prevailing challenges, while urging all comrades to remain focused, disciplined, and united ahead of the National Convention.



 “This congress is not just a gathering of comrades, but a reflection of our shared vision, collective struggle, and commitment towards building a stronger association that represents the interests of Nigerian Comrades and youths. I sincerely appreciate every stakeholder and member for their sacrifices and selfless service,” he stated.


The congress also witnessed the presence of notable stakeholders and respected personalities within the association, including Comr. Ogunolu Samsideen, who was specially recognized for his immense contributions, leadership role, and foundational efforts towards the establishment and growth of the association.


Also in attendance was Comr. Olaleru Folorunsho alongside several state executives, coordinators, and leaders from different institutions and organizations across the country.


During the congress, members extensively deliberated on the current state of the association, organizational structure, membership mobilization, leadership responsibilities, and strategies for strengthening the operations of the association at both state and national levels.


Critical resolutions were reached regarding the advancement and sustainability of the association, with members collectively reaffirming their commitment towards transparency, inclusiveness, accountability, and democratic principles.


As part of preparations towards ensuring a credible, free, fair, and transparent National Convention, an Electoral Committee comprising three members was officially constituted during the congress.


The appointed members of the Electoral Committee are:


Comr. Olaleru Folorunsho - Chairman 


Comr. Ige Deborah - Secretary 


Comr. Muhd Jamiu - Members 


The committee was saddled with the responsibility of coordinating and supervising the electoral processes ahead of the National Convention, while ensuring adherence to constitutional provisions, fairness, and credibility throughout the exercise.


Members at the congress expressed confidence in the ability of the committee to discharge its duties diligently and uphold the integrity of the association.


The event further served as an avenue for comrades from different states to interact, exchange ideas, and reaffirm their dedication towards promoting the ideals of social justice, good governance, students’ welfare, and national development.


The atmosphere of the congress reflected unity, solidarity, and comradeship, as participants collectively resolved to work together towards building a stronger and more formidable association capable of making meaningful impacts within the youth community across Nigeria.


At the conclusion of the congress, members appreciated the leadership and stakeholders for providing a platform that encourages participation, inclusiveness, and progressive engagement among comrades nationwide.


The congress ended successfully with renewed hope, strengthened unity, and a collective resolve among members to ensure a peaceful, successful, and impactful 2026 National Convention.
