BREAKING: Emir of Ilorin Appoints Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki as Chief Imam Fulani

The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has approved the appointment of Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki Imam Fulani as the new Chief Imam Fulani of Ilorin Emirate.
The appointment followed a rigorous selection process involving several respected Islamic scholars, with Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki emerging successful and subsequently receiving the Emir's approval.
The newly appointed Chief Imam Fulani comes from a renowned lineage of Islamic scholars in Ilorin. He is the grandson of Sheikh Ibrahim Dasuki Imam Fulani Agaka, the 8th Chief Imam Fulani of Ilorin, and the son of Sheikh Maliki bn Dasuki Agaka, the 10th Chief Imam Fulani of Ilorin.
Before his elevation, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki served as the founder and proprietor of Darul Bisharah Arabic and Islamic Studies, Airport-Egbejila, Ilorin. He also led daily and Jumu'ah prayers at the Afsat Oloriegbe Memorial Mosque in Oko-Olowo and was widely known for presenting the Al-Bisharah Islamic Foundation Ramadan programme on Radio Kwara. In addition, he teaches at Darul Kitab College of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Gaa Akanbi, Ilorin.
Academically, the new Chief Imam Fulani holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Islamic Shari'ah from Al-Azhar University and a Diploma in Arabic Islamic Education from Ahmadu Bello University. He is also pursuing a Master's degree in Islamic Studies at Al-Hikmah University.
In his remarks, the Emir prayed for the success of the new Chief Imam, asking Almighty Allah to grant him wisdom, sound health, and a long life in the service of Islam and the Muslim community.
The announcement was conveyed in a statement signed by Dr. Abdulraheem Muritala, Personal Assistant to the Emir of Ilorin.
The appointment is expected to further strengthen Islamic scholarship and religious leadership within the Ilorin Emirate, one of the foremost traditional and Islamic institutions in Northern Nigeria.
