The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for the Offa/Oyun/Ifelodun Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, Asiwaju Mashood Shittu (AMS), has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of the Asiwaju of Oke-Ode, Honourable (Alhaji) Kolawole Yusuf.

In a condolence message, Shittu described the late elder statesman as a distinguished political leader whose contributions to governance, democratic development, and community service left a lasting impact on Kwara State and beyond.

According to him, Alhaji Yusuf dedicated his life to public service and played a significant role in mentoring emerging political leaders while promoting peace, unity, and development within his community and the state.

The late politician represented the Offa/Oyun/Ifelodun Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, where he earned recognition for his commitment to the welfare of his constituents and his contributions to legislative development.

Beyond his service in the National Assembly, Yusuf served as Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Elders Council in Kwara South, where he provided leadership and guidance on key political and developmental issues affecting the region.

He also served as a member of the Governing Council of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, and chaired several inauguration and transition committees for successive administrations in the state.

Shittu noted that the late Asiwaju of Oke-Ode was widely respected for his wisdom, humility, and dedication to public service, describing his death as a significant loss to Oke-Ode, Kwara South Senatorial District, and the entire state.

He said the deceased's legacy of leadership, service, and commitment to community development would continue to inspire future generations.

The NDC candidate extended his condolences to the family of the late statesman, the people of Oke-Ode, political associates, and all those affected by the loss.

He prayed that Almighty Allah forgives the shortcomings of the deceased, grants him Aljanah Firdaus, and gives his family, friends, and loved ones the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.

The passing of Alhaji Kolawole Yusuf has continued to attract tributes from political leaders, associates, and community stakeholders who remember him for his decades of service to Kwara State and Nigeria.
