IEDPU HAILS UNILORIN AS SALMAN, NAGODE, MUSTAPHA BAG PRESTIGIOUS AWARDS

Emirate Union describes awardees as illustrious icons; commends university for promoting excellence and patriotism

ILORIN, KWARA STATE — August 11, 2026: The Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) has congratulated three distinguished sons of Ilorin Emirate who are set to receive prestigious awards from the University of Ilorin on Monday, August 17, 2026.

The award recipients are the Vice Chancellor of the Kwara State University of Education, Ilorin, Prof. Medinat Folorunso Salman; the Dan Amana Gari of Ilorin Emirate, Dr. Abdulkadir Tunji Nagode; and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Sobi 101.9 FM, Ilorin, Dr. Lukman Olayiwola Mustapha.

In a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of IEDPU, Mallam Suleiman Shuaib Dagbo, on behalf of the National President, Alhaji Abdulmumini Ayo Abdulmalik, the Union described the three awardees as "illustrious icons" whose remarkable contributions have continued to bring honour and goodwill to the University of Ilorin and the wider society.

IEDPU specifically commended the management of the University of Ilorin for recognising the contributions of the trio and finding them worthy of the prestigious honours.

The Union said the university's tradition of celebrating outstanding alumni and friends demonstrates its encouraging disposition towards excellence, while noting that such recognition could inspire others to contribute more meaningfully to society.

According to the Union, the University of Ilorin remains one of the most enduring and impactful Federal Government investments in Ilorin, with its activities and institutional presence making significant positive contributions to its host community.

Alhaji Abdulmalik urged other indigenes of Ilorin Emirate and alumni of the University of Ilorin to draw inspiration from the achievements and service of Salman, Nagode and Mustapha.

He noted that the recognition of the three eminent personalities should serve as encouragement for others to continue pursuing excellence, supporting community development and contributing positively to the growth of the nation.

The IEDPU President further wished the award recipients more successful and rewarding careers, while expressing his best wishes to the University of Ilorin for a successful and memorable award ceremony.

The Union reiterated its appreciation to the University for consistently recognising individuals whose achievements and contributions reflect positively on the institution and society.
