Federal Government Declares May 27 and 28 Public Holidays for Eid-ul-Adha

The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Wednesday, May 27, and Thursday, May 28, 2026, as public holidays in celebration of this year’s Eid-ul-Adha (Eid-el-Kabir).

The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, , through a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.

According to the statement, the Federal Government congratulated Muslim faithful across the country and in the diaspora on the occasion of the Islamic festival, urging Nigerians to embrace the values of sacrifice, obedience, peace, and unity as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.

The government also called on citizens to use the festive period to pray for the continued peace, stability, and progress of the nation.

Eid-ul-Adha, popularly known as Eid-el-Kabir, is one of the most significant celebrations in Islam, observed annually by Muslims worldwide through prayers, charity, and acts of sacrifice.

APC Announces Screening Schedule for National Assembly Aspirants Ahead of Primaries

By Poet of Afrique Reporters The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially announced the screening schedule for aspirants seeking to contest for Senate and House of Representatives seats ahead of the party’s forthcoming primary elections. In a press statement issued on Friday, May 8, 2026, in Abuja, the ruling party disclosed that the screening exercise for National Assembly aspirants will hold between Saturday, May 9 and Sunday, May 10, 2026. According to the statement signed by Felix Morka, Senate aspirants are expected to undergo screening at the Abuja Continental Hotel, formerly known as Sheraton Hotel, while aspirants contesting for the House of Representatives will be screened at Treasures Suites & Conferences.
