Kogi Police Commiserate with NUJ Correspondents Over Road Accident
The Kogi State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has expressed sympathy to members of the Correspondents' Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kogi State Council, following their involvement in a road accident.
The incident, which occurred on Saturday, left several journalists injured. However, no life was lost as the affected members were promptly evacuated to a hospital in Lokoja, where they received medical attention and were subsequently discharged on Sunday.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Oyiza Afusat, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Kankarofi, the Command described the accident as unfortunate and extended its heartfelt concern to the affected journalists.
"The Nigeria Police Force, Kogi State Command, is deeply saddened by the unfortunate road accident involving our journalist colleagues in the state," the statement read.
The Commissioner of Police commended the courage and resilience displayed by the journalists during the unfortunate incident and expressed gratitude that no lives were lost.
He further wished the affected members a speedy recovery and reaffirmed the Command's commitment to maintaining a strong working relationship with the media, acknowledging the critical role journalists play in informing the public and promoting societal development.
The Command also urged road users to observe traffic regulations and prioritize safety while traveling to prevent similar incidents.
