Rt. Hon. Engr. Salihu Yakub Danladi (SYD) has officially emerged on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Candidate Nomination Portal (ICNP) as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Kwara State ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
The development follows the commencement of the nationwide upload of APC governorship and State House of Assembly candidates to the INEC portal in compliance with the electoral timetable.
According to reports, the exercise is being coordinated by the party's Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Department at the APC National Headquarters in Abuja, with priority given to incumbent governors seeking re-election as well as newly nominated governorship candidates across the country.
Among the incumbent governors whose details have reportedly been uploaded are Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom), Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Uba Sani (Kaduna), Abba Kabir Yusuf (Kano), Dikko Umaru Radda (Katsina), Nasir Idris (Kebbi), Umaru Bago (Niger), Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), Ahmad Aliyu (Sokoto), Agbu Kefas (Taraba), and Dauda Lawal (Zamfara).
Also listed among the party's governorship candidates are Obafemi Hamzat (Lagos), Solomon Adeola (Ogun), Ogundu Kingsley Chinda (Rivers), Eric Opah (Abia), Mohammed Abubakar (Bauchi), Mustapha Gubio (Borno), Jamilu Gwamna (Gombe), Ahmed Aliyu Wadada (Nasarawa), Baba Malam Wali (Yobe), and Rt. Hon. Engr. Salihu Yakub Danladi (Kwara State).
The appearance of Danladi's name on the INEC Candidate Nomination Portal is being interpreted by party supporters as a confirmation of his status as the APC flag bearer for the 2027 Kwara State Governorship Election.
The APC is expected to conclude the upload of candidates nationwide as preparations intensify for the 2027 General Elections and in compliance with INEC's nomination deadlines.
The development marks a significant step in the party's electoral preparations and further sets the stage for the forthcoming governorship contest in Kwara State.
