50th SUG General Secretary Hosts Trailblazing Women Forum, Advocates Greater Female Inclusion in Leadership


The General Secretary of the Student Union Government (SUG), Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, Sen. Adewoyin Sophiat Pelumi, has successfully organized the maiden edition of the Trailblazing Women Forum, themed "Her Seat, Her Voice: Empowering Women, Amplifying Voices, Building Leaders."

The forum brought together


students, women advocates, student leaders, and stakeholders to engage in meaningful conversations on women's participation in leadership, governance, and decision-making processes.



Sen. Adewoyin expressed appreciation to the Rector of Kwara State Polytechnic, Engr. Dr. Abdul Jimoh Muhammed, for creating an enabling environment for students to thrive. She also acknowledged the contributions of the Guest Speaker, Engr. Dr. Mrs. Uthman Fawziyah, Director of the Directorate of Student Services, whose presentation inspired participants on the importance of self-development and leadership. As well Appreciate Mrs. Sadeeq Nafisat for her exemplary speech and emotion pass to the audience. It was really an interesting moment with the speech.



The event was graced by notable panelists, including Comr. Shukurah, First Female Speaker of Mass Communication departmet,Kwara State Polytechnic, Comr. Buraimo, former NFSAN Chairman in Kwara State, Comr. Khadijat, the immediate past SUG General Secretary of Kwara State Polytechnic, and Comr. Yusuf Aluta Poet, alongside other stakeholders and student leaders.

Also present was the SUG President, Sen. Maruf Ibrahim, whose administration continues to support initiatives aimed at promoting leadership development and inclusivity among students.

Speaking during the forum, Sen. Adewoyin Sophiat Pelumi emphasized the need for increased representation of women in leadership positions, stressing that empowering women is critical to building a more inclusive, progressive, and equitable society.

According to her, the initiative was designed to inspire female students to embrace leadership opportunities, develop confidence in their abilities, and actively contribute to societal development.

The forum featured engaging panel discussions where speakers shared their experiences, challenges, and practical strategies for overcoming barriers that often limit women's participation in leadership. Participants were encouraged to pursue excellence, support one another, and remain committed to advancing gender inclusion and social impact.

The successful hosting of the Trailblazing Women Forum represents a significant step towards fostering leadership development among female students and promoting a culture of inclusiveness within Kwara State Polytechnic.
