AMB. EDET ZAKARIYA; YCAPF CALL FOR PEACE

PRESS RELEASE IN DEFENCE OF PEACE FOR PEACE.

Solidarity greetings from the peace propagating forum (Youth Crisis Awareness and Peace Forum-YCAPF) National Headquaters.

As peace ambassadors and deep sense of patriotism to our dedication towards peace building, good governance and sustainable development in our beloved country Nigeria, the above peace propagating forum hereby wishes to call the attention of the government and the general public on the risk state we are pushing our country into. It is so disheartening that despite our voluntary efforts to unite our dear home and country Nigeria, the government and other relevant stakeholders are doing everything possible to push the peaceful masses into harvoc.

It is an undisputable fact that, COVID-19 pendamic has touched every part of the world, but so sad that, while citizens and government of other countries are trying their best and putting modalities in place to ease the situation in their countries, the government and citizens of Nigeria are using their hands to bring ANARCHY in Nigeria.

IN THE PART OF THE CITIZENS

The government have made efforts to ease situation by providing money in Thrillions for the masses to go into farming and other businesses, but it became so unfortunate that, beneficiaries of such resources realeased by the government end up lavishing those resources, the money became an avenue for beneficiaries to jump into clubbing, adding wives, buying cars, wearing expensive clothes and other unnecessary activities that defeated the purpose of the government, this has led to food scarcity and hike of other commodities in the market, fellow Nigerians, you will agree with me that, had it been the purpose of the money released was not extravagantly lavished by beneficiaries, many household could have been filled with food, which will leave marketers and producers with no option than to reduce the cost of commidities in the market.

On the hand of insecurity, citizens are 90% the causes of insecurity in our dear country Nigeria, the leaders, elders, youths and other stakeholders of a community will be fully aware of their children fully involved in insecurity, but will not help the security agencies in bringing the culprits to book, there is a saying in an hausa adedge that says "Sai da dan Gari ake Cin Gari", meaning "Only with someone from a community that a community can be conquered", so in this regards alots of the informants of the Arm badits and terrorist are from our own community, they will give informations on how their very own community will be dsitroyed and many will be killed without any rumorse, the most sad part of it is those who have been caught and apprehended by the security personnels are always bailed by the very same community leaders. Even in the polling unit, Nigerians dont vote credibility and competency, except party or individual that can buy their votes, infact, in almost all spheres of life, citizens are the major contributors to the economic unbalance. Fellow Nigerians, you will agree with this peace propagating forum that, as far as the citizens did not change their ways, there is no way the country can develop and have peace, we will have no choice than be under-developing, and one day reach the stage of ANARCHY.

ON THE PART OF GOVERNMENT

The government have played a very good role by approving huge amount of money to ease situations in Nigeria, but unfortunately the government keep sarbortaging the efforts of those good beneficiaries of the said released resources by inccreasing Value Added Tax (VAT), Hiked Electricity Tariff, Introducing Extortitive Stamp Duty and recently hiking the price of petrol to N151.65 and other means of defeating the efforts put in place by good Nigerians who have either used their resources or that of the government to ease the living of their fellow countrymen. With these the efforts put in place by the good beneficiaries and other individuals have been defeated because, a farmer who is sopposed to be in his farm cannot do so due to fear of been kidnapped or killed by bandits or terrorist. Also, because of the addition of VAT, lack of electricity, high electricity tariff and increase in fuel pump price, the good beneficiaries and those who have invested their resources will have no choice than to sell it high because of the increase of VAT, stamp duty, electricity and fuel pump price, if these things are high in the market, the world should know that, a hungry man is an angry man, and an angry man can become an ANARCHIST.

In conclusion, the above peace propagating forum wishes to advice the government and the citizens that:

1. Whenever the government make any provision to ease the living of its citizens, people should embrace it wholeheartedly and be honest, by abiding by the rules and regulations governing the contract or whichever resources that has been put it place.

2. The government should not try to be making excessive money from the citizens.

3. The governmental and non-governmental organizations should not prioritize the increase of salaries, instead there should be price control, because a one thousand times increase in salary is useless as far as there is one thousand and one times increase in commidities, and as far as there is increase in commodities, there must be increase in hunger, and as far as there is increase in hunger, there must be be increase in anger, and as far as there is increase in anger, it will lead to ANARCHY.

As Sun Tzu said 2000 years ago, that "A Nation Will Fail When Its Means of Supply is Far Away From It", so we should try to make our means of supply close to us, if we really want to survive and withstand all these calamities we are facing, I am saying these IN DEFENCE OF PEACE FOR PEACE.

Yours in Peace and Nation Building,
