The Director-General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Abubakar O. Sulaiman, has emphasized that the unity of Kwara State remains sacrosanct and must be preserved as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections gather momentum.

Prof. Sulaiman made the declaration on Monday during a courtesy visit by a delegation of seventeen traditional rulers drawn from the three senatorial districts of the state, alongside prominent stakeholders.

The NILDS boss urged Kwarans to embrace unity, tolerance, and mutual understanding, stressing the need to place the collective interest of the state above personal, political, or sectional considerations.

According to him, sustainable development and political stability can only thrive in an atmosphere of harmony and cooperation among all stakeholders, irrespective of political affiliations or senatorial backgrounds.

He also underscored the importance of dialogue, inclusiveness, and reconciliation in strengthening the state's political landscape, while calling for continued efforts toward fostering understanding among various interest groups.

Prof. Sulaiman expressed appreciation to the traditional rulers and stakeholders for the visit, describing it as a demonstration of their commitment to peace, unity, and the progress of Kwara State.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the royal fathers commended the former Minister of National Planning for his contributions to national development and his leadership at NILDS, describing him as a distinguished ambassador of Kwara State.

The traditional rulers also offered prayers for the Director-General and lauded his efforts in advancing legislative studies, democratic governance, and policy development in Nigeria.

The visit concluded with the presentation of commemorative plaques to the royal fathers by Prof. Sulaiman as a symbol of appreciation and mutual respect.

The meeting was attended by representatives of traditional institutions from across the state, including a representative of the Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari.
