A coalition of elders, youths, women, stakeholders, entrepreneurs, artisans, community leaders and concerned citizens in Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State has publicly distanced itself from recent comments and press briefings issued by Mohammed Ahmed regarding the governorship aspiration of Salihu Yakubu Danladi.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, the group declared that Senator Ahmed's position does not reflect the collective aspiration of the people of Baruten concerning the quest for a Kwara North governor.

The stakeholders expressed surprise at what they described as a departure from the senator's previously known support for the Kwara North governorship agenda, noting that he had once been among the leading advocates for power rotation to the district.

According to the statement, Senator Ahmed's recent political alignments and pronouncements are contrary to the interests, unity, vision and political direction of the people of Baruten Local Government Area.

"We hereby state clearly that Senator Mohammed Ahmed does not speak for us, neither does he represent our position as far as Kwara North governorship is concerned," the statement read.

The group reaffirmed its loyalty to the ruling All Progressives Congress, the leadership of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, whom they described as their political leader.

They also urged political actors and groups across the state to stop according Senator Ahmed recognition as a representative voice of Baruten on matters relating to the political future of Kwara North.

The statement was jointly endorsed by Baruten elders, youths, women, stakeholders, entrepreneurs, artisans, community leaders and concerned citizens, who reiterated their commitment to the unity of the APC and the political aspirations of the people of Kwara North.

The group concluded by offering prayers for the APC, Baruten Local Government, Kwara State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
