NANS National Calls for Permanent Solution to Xenophobic Attacks in South Africa.

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has called for a permanent and diplomatic solution to the recurring xenophobic attacks against Nigerians and other African nationals in South Africa.

Addressing journalists during a media briefing, the National President of NANS, Olushola Oladoja, condemned the continuous attacks, describing them as inhumane, unacceptable, and a threat to African unity and brotherhood.

Oladoja expressed concern over the repeated incidents of violence, intimidation, and destruction of properties belonging to Nigerians residing in South Africa, stressing that urgent actions must be taken by both governments and relevant international bodies to end the crisis permanently.

According to him, African nations must promote peace, unity, and economic cooperation rather than hatred and discrimination among citizens of the continent.

The NANS president urged the Federal Government of Nigeria to intensify diplomatic engagements with the South African government to ensure the protection of Nigerians living and doing legitimate businesses in the country.

He further called on the African Union and other international organizations to intervene decisively and establish stronger policies against xenophobia and racial discrimination across Africa.

Oladoja noted that Nigerian students across the country stand in solidarity with victims of xenophobic attacks and appealed to South African authorities to bring perpetrators of such acts to justice.

He reaffirmed NANS’ commitment to defending the rights and dignity of Nigerian students and citizens both at home and abroad, while advocating peaceful coexistence among African nations.
