The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for the Offa/Oyun/Ifelodun Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Asiwaju Mashood Shittu (AMS), has disclosed that the Igbo community in Offa and Oyun Local Government Areas of Kwara State has pledged its support for his candidacy ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Shittu made the disclosure following a consultative meeting with the leadership of the Igbo Community Association in Offa and Oyun Local Government Areas on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.

The meeting brought together the association's president, executive members, and chairmen representing the five Igbo state associations resident within the constituency.

According to Shittu, the engagement formed part of his ongoing consultations with key stakeholders across the federal constituency as preparations gradually gather momentum for the 2027 elections.

He explained that the consultations are aimed at strengthening relationships with various communities, understanding their concerns, and promoting inclusive political participation.

“I was invited by the Igbo community of Offa and Oyun Local Government Areas, led by their president. They pledged their support for my candidacy,” Shittu stated.

The Igbo Community Association in Offa and Oyun Local Government Areas is led by Sir Chief Dennis Chimezie Mozie (Nnadialo of Oba), who serves as its president.

Discussions during the meeting reportedly focused on peaceful coexistence, community development, inclusive governance, and the importance of continuous engagement between elected representatives and constituents.

Shittu expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded him by members of the association and reiterated his commitment to delivering effective and people-oriented representation if elected.

He assured the community that his vision for the constituency is anchored on inclusiveness, equity, and responsive leadership that accommodates the interests of all residents regardless of ethnic or cultural background.

The visit forms part of a broader series of consultations being undertaken by the NDC candidate as he continues to engage traditional leaders, community groups, professional bodies, religious organizations, and other stakeholders across Offa, Oyun, and Ifelodun Local Government Areas.

Political observers view such engagements as part of ongoing efforts by aspirants and candidates to build support networks and strengthen grassroots connections ahead of the 2027 general elections.
