The presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples' Movement (APM), Seyi Makinde, has selected Ibrahim Adamu Bala as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election.
The development completes the party's presidential ticket as preparations intensify for the forthcoming general elections.
Information available on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination portal indicates that Bala, 51, hails from Bauchi State, creating a North-South presidential ticket for the APM.
Political observers say the choice is expected to strengthen the party's appeal across different regions of the country as it seeks to broaden its support base ahead of the polls.
Sources familiar with the nomination process disclosed that Bala Mohammed played a significant role in Bala's emergence, reportedly nominating him during consultations aimed at enhancing the party's electoral prospects, particularly in the North-East geopolitical zone.
Although neither the APM leadership nor the Makinde campaign organisation has formally announced the nomination, Bala's details have reportedly been uploaded to the INEC nomination portal, confirming his emergence as the party's vice-presidential candidate.
Makinde, who is currently serving his second and final term as Governor of Oyo State, declared his presidential ambition on May 14 during a joint rally involving his faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Allied Peoples' Movement at Mapo Hall in Ibadan.
The emergence of Bala as running mate marks a significant step in the party's preparations for the 2027 presidential contest, as political parties continue to finalize their candidates and campaign structures ahead of the election season.
More details are expected from the party leadership regarding the official unveiling of the presidential ticket and its campaign strategy in the coming weeks.
